Ash-Sharh
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have We not caused thy bosom to dilate, (1) And eased thee of the burden (2) Which weighed down thy back; (3) And exalted thy fame? (4) But lo! with hardship goeth ease, (5) Lo! with hardship goeth ease; (6) So when thou art relieved, still toil (7) And strive to please thy Lord. (8)
Ad-Dhuha
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the morning hours (1) And by the night when it is stillest, (2) Thy Lord hath not forsaken thee nor doth He hate thee, (3) And verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former, (4) And verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content. (5) Did He not find thee an orphan and protect (thee)? (6) Did He not find thee wandering and direct (thee)? (7) Did He not find thee destitute and enrich (thee)? (8) Therefor the orphan oppress not, (9) Therefor the beggar drive not away, (10) Therefor of the bounty of thy Lord be thy discourse. (11)

By the night enshrouding (1) And the day resplendent (2) And Him Who hath created male and female, (3) Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). (4) As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) (5) And believeth in goodness; (6) Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. (7) But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, (8) And disbelieveth in goodness; (9) Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. (10) His riches will not save him when he perisheth. (11) Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance (12) And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. (13) Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire (14) Which only the most wretched must endure, (15) He who denieth and turneth away. (16) Far removed from it will be the righteous (17) Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). (18) And none hath with him any favour for reward, (19) Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. (20) He verily will be content. (21)
Ash-Shams

By the sun and his brightness, (1) And the moon when she followeth him, (2) And the day when it revealeth him, (3) And the night when it enshroudeth him, (4) And the heaven and Him Who built it, (5) And the earth and Him Who spread it, (6) And a soul and Him Who perfected it (7) And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. (8) He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, (9) And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. (10) (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, (11) When the basest of them broke forth (12) And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! (13) But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and razed (their dwellings). (14) He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). (15)

Nay, I swear by this city – (1) And thou art an indweller of this city – (2) And the begetter and that which he begat, (3) We verily have created man in an atmosphere: (4) Thinketh he that none hath power over him? (5) And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: (6) Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? (7) Did We not assign unto him two eyes (8) And a tongue and two lips, (9) And guide him to the parting of the mountain ways? (10) But he hath not attempted the Ascent – (11) Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! – (12) (It is) to free a slave, (13) And to feed in the day of hunger. (14) An orphan near of kin, (15) Or some poor wretch in misery, (16) And to be of those who believe and exhort one another to perseverance and exhort one another to pity. (17) Their place will be on the right hand. (18) But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand. (19) Fire will be an awning over them. (20)

By the Dawn (1) And ten nights, (2) And the Even and the Odd, (3) And the night when it departeth, (4) There surely is an oath for thinking man. (5) Dost thou not consider how thy Lord dealt with (the tribe of) A’ad, (6) With many-columned Iram, (7) The like of which was not created in the lands; (8) And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; (9) And with Pharaoh, firm of might, (10) Who (all) were rebellious (to Allah) in these lands, (11) And multiplied iniquity therein? (12) Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment. (13) Lo! thy Lord is ever watchful. (14) As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me. (15) But whenever He trieth him by straitening his means of life, he saith: My Lord despiseth me. (16) Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan (17) And urge not on the feeding of the poor. (18) And ye devour heritages with devouring greed. (19) And love wealth with abounding love. (20) Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding, (21) And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank, (22) And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)? (23) He will say: Ah, would that I had sent before me (some provision) for my life! (24) None punisheth as He will punish on that day! (25) None bindeth as He then will bind. (26) But ah! thou soul at peace! (27) Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure! (28) Enter thou among My bondmen! (29) Enter thou My Garden! (30)

Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? (1) On that day (many) faces will be downcast, (2) Toiling, weary, (3) Scorched by burning fire, (4) Drinking from a boiling spring, (5) No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit (6) Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. (7) In that day other faces will be calm, (8) Glad for their effort past, (9) In a high garden (10) Where they hear no idle speech, (11) Wherein is a gushing spring, (12) Wherein are couches raised (13) And goblets set at hand (14) And cushions ranged (15) And silken carpets spread. (16) Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? (17) And the heaven, how it is raised? (18) And the hills, how they are set up? (19) And the earth, how it is spread? (20) Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, (21) Thou art not at all a warder over them. (22) But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, (23) Allah will punish him with direst punishment. (24) Lo! unto Us is their return (25) And Ours their reckoning. (26)

Praise the name of thy Lord the Most High, (1) Who createth, then disposeth; (2) Who measureth, then guideth; (3) Who bringeth forth the pasturage, (4) Then turneth it to russet stubble. (5) We shall make thee read (O Muhammad) so that thou shalt not forget (6) Save that which Allah willeth. Lo! He knoweth the disclosed and that which still is hidden; (7) And We shall ease thy way unto the state of ease. (8) Therefor remind (men), for of use is the reminder. (9) He will heed who feareth, (10) But the most hapless will flout it, (11) He who will be flung to the great Fire (12) Wherein he will neither die nor live. (13) He is successful who groweth, (14) And remembereth the name of his Lord, so prayeth, (15) But ye prefer the life of the world (16) Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting. (17) Lo! This is in the former scrolls. (18) The Books of Abraham and Moses. (19)

By the heaven and the Morning Star (1) - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! (2) - The piercing Star! (3) No human soul but hath a guardian over it. (4) So let man consider from what he is created. (5) He is created from a gushing fluid (6) That issued from between the loins and ribs. (7) Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) (8) On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. (9) Then will he have no might nor any helper. (10) By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, (11) And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) (12) Lo! this (Qur’an) is a conclusive word, (13) It is no pleasantry. (14) Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) (15) And I plot a plot (against them). (16) So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. (17)

By the heaven, holding mansions of the stars, (1) And by the Promised Day. (2) And by the witness and that whereunto he beareth testimony, (3) (Self-)destroyed were the owners of the ditch (4) Of the fuel-fed fire, (5) When they sat by it, (6) And were themselves the witnesses of what they did to the believers. (7) They had naught against them save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Owner of Praise, (8) Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness. (9) Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning. (10) Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success. (11) Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern. (12) Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth, (13) And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, (14) Lord of the Throne of Glory, (15) Doer of what He will. (16) Hath there come unto thee the story of the hosts (17) Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud? (18) Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial (19) And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. (20) Nay, but it is a glorious Qur’an. (21) On a guarded tablet. (22)
